Description: Elihu Wolcott was one of Jacksonville's most prominent anti-slavery spokesmen. He forced the issue of slavery into the congressional election of 1846 by running on the "Free Soil" ticket against "moderates" Abraham Lincoln and Peter Cartwright. Join the library on Tuesday, November 12 at 7 p.m. for a presentation by Historical Researcher for the Illinois Supreme Court Historic Preservation Commission, Ben Belzer, to hear more about the story of Elihu Wolcott. **Co-sponsored by the Jacksonville Public Library and the Morgan County Historical Society
